Les Jardins de Kerdalo
The Grotto

During his youthful travels in Italy Peter Wolkonsky had discovered gardens characterised among other things by the restful presence of water and by grottos, which represent the origin of man on earth. It is in this spirit that the little grotto was created. The marine figures fashioned out of seashells, which decorate its walls, impart an atmosphere of mystery. During the Summer months gigantic leaves of Gunnera manicata increase this ambience.

Near the grotto it is worth taking the time to admire the remarkable bark of Luma apiculata (or Myrtus luma).
