Les Jardins de Kerdalo
The Golden Heath

Originally this part of the garden, covered with gorse and broom, caught the eye of Peter Wolkonsky the painter with its golden colours.

The original vegetation was replaced by Taxus baccata ‘Fastugiata Aureomarginata’, des Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Variegatum’ and ‘Golden King’, Cornus alba ‘Gouchaultii’ and by Genista aetnensis . Several touches of red were added by Cornus alba ‘Sibirica’ and Cotinus coggygria ‘Atropurpurea’

Today, forty years later, these remarkable plants make the Golden Heath look like a Wolkonsky painting.
